A Date with colours : This Colourful calendar reminds students of their school activities in a fun way. What's more the calendar of the Maharashtriya Mandal's Seth Dagduram Katariya school, has been designed by the students themselves. In a novel way to welcome the new year and promote the student's interest in art, this colourful calendar also depicts just what the students have been upto throughout the year.

" We had a similar calendar made last year, where students made abstract drawings  but this time, we decided to make the calendar relevant to their activities. Students of classes VIII, IX and  X  were told four months in advance about the topic and we selected the best drawings, " says Shailaja Pathak, art teacher.

So in January, when the school celebrates its sports day.Harshada Nimabalkar from std VIII has drawn student taking part in competition like the lemon and spoon
race with the message of a " Healthy mind in healthy body" written below the drawing. School house competition with each other forms the subject in February.
while in March and April when examination fever reaches its peak, the drawings depicting a whole family down to study reveals why its a testing time for all and the following month is a time relax with children out on a picnic. Independence day students decorating the Ganpati, Children helping out in garden,and the socials when student show off their talent like bharatnatyam.

" The calendar is not sold, but instead will be given to student free of charge so that it reminds them of their school," Says Pathak.

This colorful calendar which carries Captain Shivrampant Damle, Founder of Maharashtriya Mandal on its cover was released by noted cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar on January 8.
